About Course
The course is divided into two semesters, with the first semester consisting of six months of classroom training and hands-on experience with mannequins in a simulated environment. The second semester consists of three months of rotational internship in the emergency department, ICU, and operating room, and six months of weekend lectures and skills on pharmacology, trauma, and other emergency medicine specialties.
Students are also expected to work 12 months in an emergency department under the supervision of an approved ACEM Supervisor. The course includes modular tests at the end of each module, and a final exam at the end of nine months. The final exam is MCQ based, with 100 questions based on emergency medicine (EMS) and 50 questions based on pharmacology and skill performance on six skill stations. 60% are mandatory for passing in the modular examination, and 75% marks are mandatory for passing in both skills and theory.
